        The Hong Kong Teachers' Centre (HKTC) aims to promote continuous professional development and enrichment among teachers as well as to foster among them a greater sense of unity and professionalism through a series of diversified activities. The Advisory Management Committee (AMC) of the HKTC is the advisory and management body of the Centre. The term of office of the AMC members of the 22nd Session (2016-18) will end soon. The nomination for election of the AMC members of the 23rd Session (2018-20) has commenced. According to the Constitution of the Centre, the term of office for the AMC members of the 23rd Session is a two-year term from 1 April 2018 to 31 March 2020.

        The nomination for election of the AMC members of the 23rd Session ended on 15 November 2017. By the closing date for the nomination, there are still vacancies in some categories of schools and organisation. As such, the schools and organisations within these categories will be invited to participate in a by-election. For those categories of which the number of nominees exceeds the number of vacant seats, all organisations or schools within the categories concerned will be invited to vote in order to elect members for the new session later on. According to the election schedule, the nomination for by-election is conducted from 9 December 2017 to 18 December 2017 and the voting will be held from 19 January 2018 to 12 February 2018.

  According to the Constitution of the Hong Kong Teachers’ Centre, all organisations/schools within the following categories have been invited to vote in order to elect members for the new session as the number of nominees exceeds the number of vacant seats in these categories. The voting period is from 19 January 2018 to 12 February 2018.

Organisation-Nominated Category:

  • Organisations of School Heads

The number of seats for the category of Teachers’ Unions is 3 and 4 nominees were named. As the number of nominees exceeds the number of vacant seats, organisations within this category and eligible for the participation in the election are invited to cast votes to elect 3 members. Organisations are required to return the completed reply slip to the HKTC Secretariat on or before the deadline.

The number of seats for the category of Subject-related Organisations is 16 and 18 nominees were named. As the number of nominees exceeds the number of vacant seats, organisations within this category and eligible for the participation in the election are invited to cast votes to elect 16 members. Organisations are required to return the completed reply slip to the HKTC Secretariat on or before the deadline.

The number of seats for the category of Other Educational Organisations is 4 and 5 nominees were named. As the number of nominees exceeds the number of vacant seats, organisations within this category and eligible for the participation in the election are invited to cast votes to elect 4 members. Organisations are required to return the completed reply slip to the HKTC Secretariat on or before the deadline.

Teacher-Nominated Category:

  • Aided Primary Schools

The number of seats for the category of Aided Primary Schools is 9 and 17 nominees were named. As the number of nominees exceeds the number of vacant seats, all full-time teachers within this category are invited to cast votes to elect 9 members. Schools concerned may refer to the guidelines below for the voting arrangement and should circulate the “Introduction to Candidates” to their teachers. Completed reply slips should be returned to the HKTC Secretariat on or before the deadline.

The number of seats for the category of Aided Secondary Schools is 11 and 23 nominees were named. As the number of nominees exceeds the number of vacant seats, all full-time teachers from this category are invited to cast votes to elect 11 members. Schools concerned may refer to the guidelines below for the voting arrangement and should circulate the “Introduction to Candidates” to their teachers. Completed reply slips should be returned to the HKTC Secretariat on or before the deadline.

The number of seats for the category of Government Primary Schools is 2 and no nominee was named in the first round of nomination. Later, 3 nominees were named in the by-election. As the number of nominees exceeds the number of vacant seats, all full-time teachers from this category are invited to cast votes to elect 2 members (out of the by-election nominees). Schools concerned may refer to the guidelines below for the voting arrangement and should circulate the “Introduction to Candidates” to their teachers. Completed reply slips should be returned to the HKTC Secretariat on or before the deadline.

The number of seats for the category of Kindergartens is 5 and 11 nominees were named. As the number of nominees exceeds the number of vacant seats, all full-time teachers from this category are invited to cast votes to elect 5 members. Schools concerned may refer to the guidelines below for the voting arrangement and should circulate the “Introduction to Candidates” to their teachers. Completed reply slips should be returned to the HKTC Secretariat on or before the deadline.

The number of seats for the category of Kindergartens is 2 and 3 nominees were named.
